Class sizes 'increasing in Rotherham'

It follows a report by the National Education Union.

The NEU says out of the 119 schools in the region, 148 classes have more than 31 pupils.

Sally Kincaid is from the union, and says the figures are shocking:

"The bigger the class is, the less attention each child is going to get with their education.

It's just not fair on this generation of children. It's a bit like Victorian times; how can one teacher and teaching assistant look after that number of children?"

We've contacted the relevant academies concerned for a statement.
